Walgreens: Deals for the week of July 6-July 12, 2008

The deals looked really slim at Walgreens this week to me. Here's are two I saw:

Buy 1 Bayer Heart Advantage Aspirin at $4.99, Get $2 Register Rewards
Use $2.50/1 coupon from 05/18 SmartSource insert
$0.49 each after coupon and Register Reward

Pledge - on sale for $3
Buy 2 and use B1G1 coupon
Send in for $2 EasySaver rebate (#21)
$0.50 each after coupon and rebate

Be sure to check out the details and deals you can get with this children's coloring/coupon booklet.

Also, the diaper deal mentioned last week is good all month. However, since diapers are no longer on sale for $5.99 like last week, it isn't quite as sweet. For those who missed it, though, it's still a great deal:

Buy 3 packages of Walgreens diapers at $7.99 each
Use $2/1 coupon from the Prescription Savings booklet (should take $2 off each pack)
Use $5/2 coupon from EasySaver July booklet (should take $2.50 off each pack)
Get $5 Register Reward (this is advertised in the July EasySaver booklet so if for some reason it doesn't print, be sure to politely ask them to re-ring your order or give you the $5 on a gift card)
$1.82 per pack of diapers after coupons and Register Rewards

See the ad scans for this week here, courtesy of Hot Coupon World.

JULY MONTHLY REBATE DEALS

July 03, 2008

And I'm outta here...

208997statueoflibertynycposters
I just cleaned out my entire inbox (okay, well, there are still a few dozen emails in there that can wait!), posted quite a few deals (see below), and am shutting down the computer for a 48-hour media fast. I don't plan to moderate comments, blog, or even check my email for two days while I just enjoy some quality family time. I've been eagerly anticipating this little "vacation" all week long!

We're planning a breakfast picnic tomorrow morning (homemade cinnamon rolls and fruit) while watching our community July 4th parade. After the parade, my husband and I are dropping our girls off with friends and sneaking out for a date (all by ourselves--something we've only done a handful of times since having children!), and then we have an evening of fun and festivities planned at our friends' home.

We'll be skipping the Super Savings Saturday round up this week (save your great savings stories for next week!) but I'll be back with our usual CVS and Walgreens deals on Saturday evening. Here's to hoping you have a wonderful family celebration for July 4th as well!

See you soon!
Money Saving Mom

P.S. You won't want to miss next week's posts; I'm really excited about what's slated: I'll be giving away two money-saving books and two coupon organizers, hosting a fun blog event in honor of Chick-Fil-A's free food day (it's going to be quite comical!), sharing our financial accomplishments for the month of June and encouraging you to do the same, writing more in our series on Becoming a WAHM, and maybe--just maybe--we'll be unveiling the new blog design!

Reader Tips and Deal Alerts: Rite Aid, Olive Juice Kids, Wachovia, Amazon, and Back-To-School Sales

Rite Aid: Free $30 Gift Card for Prescription Transfer - From Jen:
Rite Aid is offering a $30 gift card when you transfer a RX to their stores. You can print multiple coupons here and it's good until 7/31.

Olive Juice Kids: Classic Clothes at a Great Price - From Meggan:
I just found some great deals on the final sale section at Olive Juice Kids. These clothes are so classic and modest and feminine. The boys clothes are pretty classy too. With this code SPARKLER, you get five dollars off EACH ITEM! I got flipflops [not final sale] for .95 and dresses for $5.95 and $9.95. They are very high quality and great for little girls.

Wachovia: Way 2 Save Program - From Tasha:
Wachovia also has a new program that we LOVE. It is called the “Way 2 Save” program. It just adds a dollar to every purchase. Instead of just rounding up like Bank of America you just add a full $1 that is directly transferred to this savings program. You can also transfer up to $100 yourself each month. Also, like Bank of America, they will PAY you to save. The first year is 5% APY and the second and third year is an added 2% APY. Here is the link to check it out.

Amazon: Kashi Deal - From Kristy:
Amazon is offering $20 off of a $49 purchase of Kashi products this month. Most of their cereal and bars are too high for me, but their Whole Grain Pilaf works out to a pretty decent deal. It is $16.54 for six boxes. If you buy 3 deals, that would be $49.62 minus $20 which brings you too $29.62 or $1.65 a box (there are 9 meal servings or 15 or so side servings per box), delivered because you get free shipping.

Kroger: Free Plus Overage After Rebate Pert Plus Botanicals - From Jeannine:
I just went to Kroger and purchased the Pert Plus Botanicals shampoo.  It was $3.35 and I had a $3 off coupon from this past Sunday's paper (6/29/08).  On the outside of the bottle there was a mail-in rebate offer for the price of the bottle (up to $3.99).  I just made a profit of $3 and got a free bottle of shampoo!!

Back-To-School Sales Starting Soon! - From Sharon:
Just a reminder to your readers with school age children or who are teachers to be on the lookout -- the big school supply sales will start this weekend. I was in Wal-Mart yesterday and they were stocking up really big. Most years in my area spiral notebooks go on an unadvertised sale at Wal-Mart for $0.15/each the weekend after the Fourth. But you have to be there to catch it because they don't usually put that sale in the flyers. Last year I got crayons and glue stick packs for $0.10 each (I used these in goody bags for my son's birthday party as well as for Christmas goody bags for my Sunday School children. Another good one to watch for is the pocket folders with clips for $0.05 at Staples and Office Depot a little later in the month.

CVS: More deals and an update

**Check your email inboxes! CVS sent out a bunch of $4/$20 coupons today--good for tomorrow only!**

It appears like the $2.99 facial towelettes which were giving $2.99 ECBs back are now only giving $1 back. The bad news is that you won't get any overage on them. The good news is that they are still free:

Buy 1 15-count CVS brand cleansing towelettes at $2.99, Get $2.99 ECBs (Limit 5)

*DEAL*
Buy 1 15-count towelette at $2.99
Use $2/1 CVS skincare product coupon
Spend $0.99 out of pocket
Get $1 ECBs back

Free after coupon and ECBs

Another weekly deal:

CVS brand Q-tips are on sale for $2 this week. If your store considers this a skincare product, you can use the $2/1 coupon and get these free! (Thanks, Motherbear!)

And another free (or almost free) monthly deal:

Buy 2 Trident Xtra Care Gum (Priced at $1.25 to $1.49), Get $1 ECBs

*DEAL*
Buy 2 Tridents
Use 2 $0.75/1 coupons from the August All You magazine (There's also reports of tear pad B1G1 coupons, too!)
Spend $1 to $1.50 out of pocket
Get $1 ECB back!
(Thanks, Heather!)

Walgreens: Free plus overage Woolite and Spray n' Wash

From Bethany:

Woolite and Spray 'n' Wash are on sale for 2/$5 at Walgreens this week. There is also a July EasySaver rebate (#30) for $2 on each, making them .50. To sweeten the deal further, use either this or this printable $1 Spray 'n' Wash coupon. You'll make a profit of .50 a bottle.

Note: The end price I've listed is purposely lower than the one in the ad flier. For some reason Walgreens combined two different rebate offers in one ad photo, confusing the final price. If you do the math on the deal, it still comes out correct.

Regional Store Deals: Food Lion, Kroger, Winn-Dixie, Hy-Vee

Food Lion: $10/$50 Coupon - From Mommy Making Money:

Yesterday's Washingon Post (7/2) has a coupon for $10 off a $50 purchase at Food Lion grocery store. It was in the front section, and it's good through Sunday, July 6th.

If you don't get the Washington Post, you can sign up for a 7-day trial here of their online edition (it's free) and print the coupon. It's on page A10.

Kroger: Free Totinos Pizza Rolls - From Melissa:

Kroger has their Daytona deals going on right now, where you buy 10 of certain items, and you get $3 off your order. Totino's pizza rolls (15 ct.) are on the list and are on sale for 10/$10. There is a $.35 coupon here and here. My Kroger doubles coupons up to $0.50, so it was $.70 off, making them $.30 each, or $3.00 for 10. Minus the $3 for buying 10, and they're free.  Plus, they count your pre-coupon total toward the $100 you need to get the $.10/gal. gas discount, so you get $10 credit for that.

Winn-Dixie: Baby Club - From Jen:

Join the Winn-Dixie baby club and you'll receive coupons in your email for lots of freebies. I have gotten the following from them so far: free photo frame, free baby dish and spoon, free baby products (body wash, shampoo, lotion or powder), free baby wipes, and even a $10/$50 coupon!

As usual, Wendy has the scoop on the Hy-Vee deals here.

Starbucks: FREE drink card in Sunday's paper!

I know, I know, I'm really behind here. I'm trying to clean out my inbox before the long weekend...

Starbuckslogo
Many areas received an insert from Starbucks in their Sunday newspaper. This insert included a free drink card redeemable DAILY for a free 12 oz. hot or cold coffee drink from Sunday through July 14, 2008!

Okay, since we're not getting the paper right now (long story!) and I've yet to find a paper from Sunday in the recycling bins yet, can someone tell me whether this coupon was in the Kansas City Star? If so, I'm going to turn the recycling bins inside out till I find one! :)

Also, I notice that Sure deodorant is $2.99 per Walgreens website.  There's a $1.50 off one coupon in the Easy Saver catalog.  There were BOGO coupons in the inserts today and $1 off on the 5/11 inserts.  This is what you can do:
$5.98 two Sure deodorants
-2.99 BOGO coupon
-1 $1 off coupon
-3 ESR coupon for $1.50 applied to both items
=1.01 in overage!
Make sure to hand the manufacturer coupons first and to have something else in your order to absorb the overage.

Happy savings!

Credit to Greenatw and Justmeagain at HCW for the heads up on the coloring book and sharing a picture of it.
